Sense 8 ends…for now

As soon as we heard the news, I rushed to San twitter to help me deny this false rumor, but it was not. He read it and could not believe it … The official cancellation of the series was announced in Netflix’s official Twitter accounts after two sensational seasons. The cause and reason have not been stated, just a brief tweet where they come out thanking the support shown for the series and the claim that “we will continue to be connected” … Bah!

Honestly, we are very surprised at this news. Especially taking into account all the marketing promotions that they did with the series, especially in its first season. Netflix is ​​already used to ingenious ways of advertising and disruptive marketing campaigns, both traditional marketing and digital marketing. But with Sense8 (and it couldn’t be less) I went further and implemented the use of sensory marketing.

During the promotion of the first season, they gathered 8 people at random and put them to see certain images along with episodes of the season, measuring their brain waves they managed to transform these into electronic music creating the so-called “Brainwave Simphony”. The video of the Making Of can be found on Youtube and the song itself is available on Spotify as well. As I said, Sensory Marketing taken to a new level and relating it perfectly to the plot of the Series.

That’s why after a few minutes, I came out of my amazement and smiled. Such a series cannot be left alone. Sense8 is simply a completely different “television product” from what is on the small screen today. The work of the Wachowski Sisters received praise from critics and audiences alike. At a time when television series are riddled with themes that revolve around superheroes, politics, comedy or police dramas, Sense8 was that respite from the “rare”, “atypical” but so necessary and original projects that the television itself needs.

Regardless if Netflix completely abandons the production of this series, tens of thousands of followers of this series are all over the world right now asking for the renewal of a third season. A project like Sense8 is necessary today in our lives not only as a variant of a television program, but for the message it carries in each of its chapters, where we are shown that color, creed, race, sex, language or nationality in order to be human with our neighbor and enjoy life without prejudice or programming.

Sense8 is going to come back, it HAS to come back. Hopefully we will soon read that this project has been taken up by another television station (it would not be the first time) and then we can proudly carry the Sensate flag again.
